My life's work has been dedicated to teaching people to perform dangerous tasks safely. I develop computer modeling programs and combat simulations, most recently, focusing on countering threats. This work is crucial in training pilots and flight crews, ensuring our team's victory while minimizing our nation’s human casualties. I actively contribute to war studies and serve on several panels, all with the aim of enhancing American warfighting capabilities and the survival of our combat personnel.
I am addicted to horsepower. I've attended many racing schools and have owned six Corvettes. I’ve been in love with aviation and flight since I was a small child when I attended my first airshow with my father. I am mechanically inclined, building car and motorcycle engines with my father. My first car was a 1967 Firebird my father helped me build. As an avid traveler, I enjoy visiting our National Parks and many international places of interest. Music is a vital part of my life, and I’ve played guitar since I was ten years old and enjoyed hundreds of concerts. I'm a diehard hockey fan. I love to read, and I read 2-4 books a week. I have been a test reader and content and line editor for decades, starting with my mother’s screenplays and short stories all the way to the present day, helping with editing and test-reading the work of a bestselling author.
I am a survivor. I survived Acute Lymphocytic Leukemia (ALL). I had two bone marrow transplants and many rounds of radiation and chemotherapy. My most recent remission has lasted ten years. Health and fitness are extremely important to me both as a cancer survivor and because it was essential to maintain a high level of fitness for performing at a professional level. While it was a requirement of my career and a common sense approach to maintaining my health, I love working out for pleasure and stress relief.
I am a mother to four sons, who have all grown to be great men. Two are twins I adopted five years into my career despite the fact that it could have been career-ending to do so. All four are accomplished in their chosen professions. One served our country in the United States Navy, while the youngest is currently serving in the United States Air Force. I mentor young men and women who are considering military or public service in the Federal Government. Many have gone on to do great things. The most recent of which is a United States Ambassador to Vietnam.
The shortest story of me: I love the sky. I am lethal. And the people in my life that I love know it without question.
